The food is bomb! Meat is tender and juicy, Mac is right not sloppy like a lot of places, portions are hearty and they actually care about you as a customer. We came just before close and instead of rushing us out they told us to take our time and enjoy the food. And wanted feedback about it when we finished. So good we came right back the next day! It can get a little crowded and hectic inside but if your patient you can easily get a table to enjoy good food good vibes and they always have chill music
Bruh this place so ono . Straight choke you have to come eat here all other place. If you poly you know what I'm talking about.......cheee'hoooooo
Will definitely be back. Service was fast. Great food. Big serving. Casual place. Wish they will offer some wet wipes since the women restroom was out of order. Not crazy about the sides, but the meat made it all worth it btw, fullerton location that I went to is in a plaza with lots of parking.
First off let me say the customer service was amazing. I was so undecided and KB has so much patience with me and help me make my mind up. So when you pull up look for KB she will get you right The food here is hands down some the best Hawaiian barbecue around all the food is fresh and super flavorful and delicious. It's definitely worth the 30 min drive for my house
If you're on a quest for some bomb-ass Hawaiian food that will transport your taste buds straight to the islands, look no further than Matiki Island BBQ! I recently ordered takeout from this culinary paradise, and let me tell you, it was a life-changing experience. First off, let's talk parking. Plenty of it! I mean, it's almost as if they knew I'd be arriving with a convoy of hungry friends ready to feast like kings and queens. No parking drama here, just pure anticipation for the deliciousness that awaited. Now, onto the star of the show: the short ribs. Oh. My. Lono. I was shocked to find these gems at a Hawaiian spot, but boy, did they take the cake! Juicy, tender, and packed with flavor, they were like a luau in my mouth. I half-expected a hula dancer to pop out of the takeout box and start a celebration right there in my kitchen. Everything else was equally amazing, but those short ribs stole the spotlight. It's like they whispered sweet nothings to my taste buds and left me craving more. I may or may not have attempted to do the hula in my living room afterward. I did. And it wasn't pretty. So, if you're in the mood for a culinary vacation without the airfare, head on over to Matiki Island BBQ. Your taste buds will thank you, and you might just discover your inner hula dancer too. Mahalo, Matiki, for the epic food adventure! P.S. Food was so good I didn't even bother taking a picture or waiting until I got home to eat it sowwie
The lovely folks at Matiki Island BBQ did not disappoint. The wonderful service and delicious island food was just what the doctor ordered. I got the beef and short ribs combo with a side of some beef ribs! The combo comes with rice and mac . The servings were plentiful leaving me with leftovers for lunch the next day. The restaurant interior gives off a real Hawaiian vibe. Aloha and mahalo!
It's our first time here. Typically, we go to the Anaheim location when we're in the area. This place is a lot bigger and more modern. When you walk in, it is bright and beautifully decorated. You get instant islander vibes with the smell of the bbq cooking. You can even watch them cooking. I placed my order and walked around. I was happy that this location had pani popo. They have restrooms for customers and it was nice and clean. I ordered : 1. Sam's plate - you can never go wrong with the beef ribs. It's flavorful, yummy, messy goodness, and follow it with the mac/potato salad. Heaven, you can hear going "aah" 2. Steak & short ribs - I always order this but always forget that the steak is like think pieces of steak, not like a juicy chunky piece of steak, you know? If that's what you're expecting, don't get it. Short ribs are deliciously messy 3. Kalua pork & cabbage - my husband loves this and be careful with this. When handling it, be careful of the juicy goodness spilling. 4. Pani popo - I've been wanting to try this for a while now, but the other location never has it in stock. I think I built this up so much that by the time I had it, I was disappointed. It was basically a pan de sal with coconut milk/saucy thing. It's like a bread pudding. Overall, the food was delicious. Service was fast, and they are efficient. Price wasn't too bad. I think it is affordable. Portions were a good size. This location had plenty of parking and was a little more inviting.
Once my friend introduced me to Matiki, there was no turning back. Their beef ribs are meaty, fatty, smokey, sweet, and delicious. I've always passed by this establishment and I'm upset that it took me over 10 years to try it. I've only tried their #1 Sam's plate but I'm sure the other items are good too. Grilled over charcoal, the beef ribs are cooked perfectly and their sweet sauce that accompanies it makes anything taste good. You feel like you're in a local Hawaiian joint. Order with the cashier and then your name will be called with your food. I can't wait to come back. The restaurant is clean and there is no smoke smell as it is well ventilated.
Matiki Island Barbecue is located off of Berkeley Ave and Harbor Blvd. If it's your first time here, be sure to follow your GPS directions or you'll drive right past it. Once you find it, it's easy to access and parking is plentiful. Be aware that if you come during peak lunch or dinner hours the parking lot fills up because this place is hoppin'!! Orders are placed at the counter and your name is called for you to claim it once it's ready. The dining room is a nice size with lots of table & chair seating, but remember, during peak hours, Matiki's gets packed. Simple, tasteful Hawaiian decor graces the walls and a front corner. Service is usually friendly but always efficient. (They sometimes get frazzled during the rush). Spam musubi and Manapua are in a "self-serve" case on the counter. Drinks have the option of self-serve fountain or individual single cans. Coke lovers rejoice, because it is served here!! We originally discovered Matiki's at the original location in Anaheim. It's no exaggeration when I tell you that EVERYTHING on the menu is amazing ~ we've tried it all!! Combo plate portions are huge and can easily be shared by two people (unless you're extra hungry, then you can definitely chow down!). The Mac salad is so good, we usually order extra scoops on the side. And definitely try the Matiki's sauce. Another crave-worthy offering! Have I made you hungry yet?? Go give them a try. Your taste buds will thank you!
Da best ribs!! Always get a Sam's plate here with huge beef ribs and had an extra kalbi plate. They grill up their meats right here, and expect it to get a little smokey when they fire it up to reheat for you. They have a little self serve area with utensils and condiments too. Definitely try if you love Hawaiian, beef ribs, and good food!
